Brazil_Copacabana_Beach_Holiday

Joie de vivre! This French phrase describes Brazil. Brazil is Exhilaration! Brazil is Happiness! Come to Brazil and get Excited about Life!

Brazil is a country with many facets—beautiful scenery, beautiful people and beautiful beaches. The carioca spirit is spontaneous and friendly. Brazil urges one to live life to the fullest.

Rio de Janeiro is a city with personality to spare! Nightlife in Rio is plentiful and colourful.  Celebrate the big Flamengo (or Vasco, Fluminense or Botafogo), go to an exciting soccer match, or attend one of the weekend samba parties around town. Have a blast at the baile funk parties in the favelas and boat parties on the bay. Sip caipirinhas, a popular Brazilian cocktail, in an atmospheric bar then catch a samba show. In 2013, Rio was voted the world’s happiest city.

Rio is more than a great place to party.  It is an urban beauty. Forested mountains surround the city. Glistening beaches sketch the shoreline. Dotting the seafront is a string of small islands. This enchanting scenery is a backdrop for a host of exceptional outdoor adventures like hiking the Tijuca rainforest, cycling by the lake and beaches or sailing across Baía de Guanabara. Surf. Rock-climb. Hang-glide.  Rio has something for everyone.

Enjoy the sun, white sands and whispering blue waves while you get in a lot of people watching at the famous Copacabana Beach! In the 1940s, international stars flew in for the weekend, and Copacabana Beach became a symbol of Rio. Today, the fame and beauty of Ipanema Beach has captured the spotlight.

The iconic Christ the Redeemer statue overlooks the bustling city of Rio de Janeiro. The art deco statue, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski, is 30 metres tall and is located at the peak of Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park. Made of reinforced concrete and soapstone, this representation of Jesus Christ was constructed between 1922 and 1931.

Journey to the Brazilian side of the Iguassu Falls, a mammoth series of 275 waterfalls plunging over a precipice approximately 3.2 kilometres wide and 76-metres deep. Venture into Devil’s Throat Canyon amidst clouds of mist. Listen to the roar of the rushing water while surrounded with an amazing 180 degrees of rainbows. Memories of Iguassu Falls will be etched into your mind.

Cruise the Amazon! Wonder at a stunning South American sunset aboard ship. What an adventure sailing the largest river in South America. The Amazon, Portuguese Rio Amazonas, is home to a variety of Indian cultures with vast knowledge of the rich and complex rainforest environment. A river runs backward? Erosion and other processes taking place at Earth’s surface explain why large portions of the river reversed course.

Another adventure is Piranha fishing. These fish are rather small but possess very sharp teeth. Your local guide will even bait your hook!

Envision a street where you can meet with friends, talk quietly, have deep, meaningful conversations, even flirt joyously! Sit, sip and enjoy the world parading by. Here you are free of time’s hold. Unwind, relax your mind and find your peaceful place on Rua das Pedras. Located in Buzios, this cobbled street is a vibrant place for entertainment and shopping with a cornucopia of restaurants, bars, shops and lots of beautiful people.  At one time, Buzios was a small fishing village, but fame visited in the 1960s.  Fleeing the paparazzi, French film star Bridget Bardot took refuge in Buzios with her German millionaire boyfriend Gunter Sachs.

Picanha_traditional_Brazilian_barbecue

What is the food like? In Brazil, premium cuts (the most popular being picanha, rump cap) are seasoned with no more than a liberal shake of coarse salt, then grilled to pink perfection over charcoal or wood. More than a mere fish stew, moqueca is served with theatrical flourish as the piping hot clay pot is uncovered at the table amidst clouds of fragrant steam. Experience the flavours of Brazil!
